Apple was fairly quick to rectify the situation and get it removed before it caused any problems for them. Wanting to keep the proper image, they dared not allow a porn app to be featured. Well, the Droid is not being shy about making it known that they have plenty of room available for this sort of thing. The new app from MiKandi, is directly geared towards the porn industry. It has several different categories available such as Adult News, Erotica and Porn Stars so that interested parties can find their entertainment as quickly as possible. It is a pretty risky step by both Verizon and the Droid to allow this application to be sold.

Hey, everyone has a right to do what they want, and we are by no means being critical one way or the other, but there is a reason that Apple would not allow this sort of thing on their phone. When asked for a comment, the developers wanted something that Apple did not or was not willing to offer. This falls easily into that category.

Taking all of this into consideration, it would appear as though Droid app developers have free reign to fill up their app store as quick as possible. With what are apparently lest stringent filters for allowing apps to be available for sale, it may not take them as long as many people think to catch up with the iPhone. If they get anywhere near the 10,000 apps a week that Apple gets, they can hit their 100,000 mark within the next few months. Watching videos on your cell phone just got a lot more interesting!

Is The New iPhone Already Being Tested

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 137px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Xdh82diqq28/SygAajPPoUI/AAAAAAAAAAU/e1UrBZLuRkU/s320/iphone.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5415579008048800066" /> As has been said here and many other places, one can only imagine that Apple was ready to do battle with the Droid and that they were merely waiting for the release of their competitions top product before finalizing their latest version. It would be a good move as they would know what they were up against and could make whatever changes to the latest version to stand up against whatever Motorola was throwing out there.
Apparently, the new version of the phone is already out on the test market as an app developer noticed that a new version of the iPhone has showing up in their data. This is pretty interesting in that loyal iPhone users are tired of seeing their phone get bashed in the media and are hoping that the new version will put some of this to rest.

The rumors are running rampant (and at this point, that is all they are) all over the web as this story continues to get its legs. Estimates have the phone hitting the open market sometime in the summer of 2010. While it is unlikely that the phone is 100% of what will be seen on the market before it gets released, Apple iPhone users are getting excited at the mere thought of a “better than ever” iPhone release being so close.

This may be just the information that AT&T and the iPhone need to keep their bubble customers at bay. For anyone who has a contract that is just expiring or will expire over the next few months, this gives them something to look forward to just in case they are getting a little antsy and want to try the new Droid. You know the Internet will be loaded with reviews the moment the latest phone is released or that testing details are made public. That being the case, iPhone users that were considering moving over may just stay put and give the iPhone a chance to address the areas where the Droid is attacking them.

Nexus One: The iPhone killer?

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 233px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Xdh82diqq28/SygAAP3MpnI/AAAAAAAAAAM/a9uNjEfFXFw/s320/nexusone-phone.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5415578556171069042" /> Google is working on a new phone, and it’s called the Nexus One. No, Nexus One is not a code name, it’s the real name of the phone that you see in the picture above. You can see more pictures of this at Engadget. The Nexus One is a slim phone running Google’s Android 2.1 operating system. HTC is manufacturing the Nexus One. No price, specs, or other official dates have been confirmed. According to rumors, this phone will be unlocked and will sell for around $500. Reuter’s sources are saying that there will be two versions of the Nexus One: One will be sold through T-Mobile with a service contract and the other will be sold through Google unlocked. Reuter’s sources are also saying that the Nexus One will be released around January 5.

The one question many people are thinking about is, will this phone be the iPhone killer? It’s too early to judge this as the phone is not even out yet, and Google hasn’t even confirmed that they’ll be releasing it. As far as we know this could even be just a phone for developers. This phone is running Android, and from my experience with Android it was not as user friendly as the iPhone. The main reason why many people choose the iPhone is because of the ease of use it offers. Apple has done a perfect job developing a great software, the iPhone OS, and it’ll take a lot for other competitors to catch up.

Verizon Droid Is The Real Deal

Verizon and Motorola finally lifted the curtain on their new Droid Android phone yesterday. Make no mistake, this is Android’s flagship product, and the first phone that will pose a significant threat to Apple’s iPhone. And it will be available very soon, possibly as early as the end of this month.

MobileCrunch has been tracking the phone, which has also been called the Tao or Sholes, for some time. Just about anyone who has come in contact with the phone can’t stop talking about it. And from what we hear, they have good reason.

The phone is a three-way effort between Motorola, Verizon and Google. It looks a lot like the iPhone, and may even be as thin or thinner than the iPhone 3GS. It also has two key advantages over the iPhone – a slide out physical keyboard, and use of the Verizon network.

Unlike previous Android phones, the Droid is rumored to be powered by the TI OMAP3430, the same core that the iPhone and Palm Pre use, and which significantly outperforms Qualcomm 528MHz ARM11 based Android phones that exist today (Engadget has a great overview article on mobile CPUs).

Refurbished iPhone 3GS Only $149!

AT&T has now begun offering refurbished iPhone 3GS’ for only $149! When the first iPhone came out, they weren’t ready. When the second iPhone
came out, they still weren’t ready. When the third iPhone came out and all the way up until today they still remain unready, or unwilling, to support the main device their users crave. You would think that the “fool me once” proverb should surely apply. But AT&T has gone and further crossed the line by trying to blame their main source of wireless income, the iPhone userbase.

AT&T’s head of consumer services, Ralph de la Vega, told investors at a USB conference that they are in talks of releasing incentives for high-bandwith users to “reduce or modify their usage.” AT&T blames the heavy bandwith users for all their network woes. AT&T simply claims a scapegoat every time something isn’t going their way, and iPhone users seem to be the most prominent solution.

MMS was not released because iPhone users
would use it to much. Network is having problems because iPhone users use it to much. Tethering isn’t ready because iPhone users would use it to much… and the list goes on. Why would you release a device for 3 consecutive years without being ready to support it at full capacity? Someone should have stepped back after year one and reevaluated their network strategy, not continued to barrage it with a swarm of new high usage devices.

I am more for hoping AT&T would spend their time, and my money, on upgrading their network, not just trying to find someone else to blame it on. I pay darn good money to use my network as much as I please, not have it restricted from me for no other reason than the fact that I use what I buy.

Do NOT install Icy in Blackra1n

The icy bundle is broken and does not have permissions to install software
, but that’s not the worst part. Blackra1n install of Icy breaks cydia and rock your phone since it has a very old version of dpkg. This is the core to all these installers. Since icy is usually installed last, it overwrites dpkg with its own. This causes things like winterboard not working, sbsettings not working. What is really happening is mobile substrate cannot be installed (among other things).
I get about 20 emails a day on various issues that all stem from this one issue. So please spread the word. Do not install Icy in blackra1n.
